The Gore-Tex® PacLite® membrane contains a protective black layer that is made of an "oil hating" polymer and carbon. This layer allows perspiration vapor to pass through, but keeps body oils, cosmetics, salt water, insect repellents from altering the waterproofness of the membrane, resulting in an extremely durable, breathable, compressible waterproof fabric.
